Tips to make the Best Sour Cream and Chive Dip
Use full-fatsour cream: Low-fat sour cream can be thinner in texture, you can still use it, but the results may not be excellent. Try to use full-fat sour cream to make the dip rich, creamy, and flavorful.
Add water or milk for a runnier dip if you prefer: Add a tablespoon of water or milk if you prefer a runnier dip. I like the thickness of the dip without adding any water though.
Adjust the seasonings: Taste the dip mixture and adjust the seasoning as per your preference as you mix.
Variations
FreshHerbs: You can also use finely chopped fresh dill and chives. You may also use parsley.
Swap some of your sour cream for Greek yogurt: To add probiotics, protein, and tanginess and cut on calories.
Spicy: For a spicy sour cream sauce, add a little cayenne powder, or a teaspoon of sriracha sauce to the sour cream mixture. You can also add some minced chili pepper or jalapeno for the heat.
Sour cream and onion dip: Add some caramelized onion to the dip mixture for a variation.
