These air fryer roasted carrots are perfectly seasoned, delicious, and can be served as a healthy appetizer or side dish. Vegan, gluten-free, paleo, dairy-free, and Whole30!
I used my Instant Vortex Plus 6 Quart Air Fryer for this recipe. I love this because you can get the food in a single layer all at once, and dinner is ready in 30 minutes or less. Any air fryer brand like Cosori 5.8QT, Cuisinart Air Fryer Oven, Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Duo Crisp works here.
Ingredients for Carrot Fries
- Carrot – I have used organic orange carrots. I have peeled the skin in this recipe, but you can keep the skin on as well.
- Extra-virgin olive oil – helps to crisp up the fries in the air fryer.
- Spices – I have used garlic powder, salt, and pepper for seasoning, you may use any of your favorite go-to spices.
How to Make Air Fryer Carrots
Wash, dry, and peel the carrots. Cut the carrots into 2-inch sticks. Cut them first into half and then into 3 or 4 strips vertically.
Transfer the carrot fries to a medium bowl. Add olive oil and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss them well, so they are all coated with the seasoning.
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Add the seasoned carrots to the air fryer basket and spread them in a single layer (cook in batches if required).
Air fryer them at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes or until slightly brown and crispy. Shake the basket halfway through. Mine was cooked perfectly in 12 minutes.
Roasted Carrots are ready. Remove to a serving plate, and serve it immediately with a tasty dipping sauce on the side.
How to Roast Carrots in the Oven
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Transfer the seasoned carrot sticks to a baking sheet. You can add oil and seasonings to the sheet tray itself.
Spread them evenly in a single layer and cook for about 20 minutes, or until the carrots are browning around the edges (time may vary based on the size of your fries). You may have to turn them once halfway through for even roasting.
Serving Suggestion
These air-fried carrots can be enjoyed as a side dish with veggie burgers, sandwiches, or enjoyed as an appetizer.
Expert Tips & Notes
- Dice them into the same size: This helps for quick and even cooking.
- Cook in batches. Make sure to spread the carrot fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding, so that the veggies don't steam. Cook in batches if needed.
- Shake the basket halfway: It's important to shake it halfway through to allow the carrots to be cooked evenly.
- Serve them right away: These crispy roasted carrots get soggy as they sit and cool.
- The exact cooking time will vary based on the air fryer being used.
