I used my Instant Vortex Plus 6 Quart Air Fryer for this recipe. I love this because you can get the food in a single layer all at once, and dinner is ready in 30 minutes or less. Any air fryer brand like Cosori 5.8QT, Cuisinart Air Fryer Oven, Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Duo Crisp works here.

Air Fryer Kale Chips Ingredients

  • Kale: You can use any variety of kale for this kale chips recipe, such as curly, Tuscan, or red Russian kale. I have used organic curly kale as they are much better suited for chips.
  • Extra-virgin olive oil – is ideal for roasting and adds richness, and helps to crisp up the kale in the air fryer.
  • Seasoning – I have used only garlic powder, salt, and pepper for seasoning.

How to Oven Bake Kale Chips

Preheat the oven to 300°F (148˚C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the seasoned kale evenly in a single layer, ensuring chips don't overlap.

Bake at 300˚F for 20-25 minutes, Stirring halfway through till they are crispy and done. Make sure they don't burn. Let them cool to room temperature before serving.

Serving Suggestion

These air-fried kale chips can be enjoyed as is, added to a salad, or served as a side dish with a tasty dipping sauce on the side.

Storage Instructions

Kale chips taste best when served fresh. You can also store your kale chips, in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days.

Pro-Tips & Notes

  • Dry the kale thoroughly: before air frying else, the water can steam the kale chips while air frying.
  • Work in batches: Make sure to spread the kale in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving some space between each other. Cook in batches if needed.
  • Shake the basket halfway: It's important to shake the basket halfway through to allow the beets to be cooked evenly.
  • The exact cooking time will vary based on the air fryer being used.
