Sweet potato snacks are a terrific method to increase your diet's nutritional value. You may cook several snacks, including sweet potato fries, sweet potato cutlets, and shakarkandi chaat.
However, air-fried sweet potato cubes are my preferred recipe. Roasting sweet potatoes in the Air fryer brings the best flavor and has been one of the latest addition to our day-to-day meals. Ready in under 20-25 minutes, crispy from the outside and soft inside, delicious!
My daughter even enjoys it too much. When I ask her what she wants for her evening snack, she always replies, "Sweet potato cubes." Guess what, too? Given that they are easily made in an air fryer and are nutritious, I have no problem giving them to her. So there's no need to worry!
I used my Instant Vortex Plus 6 Quart Air Fryer for this recipe. I love this because you can get the food in a single layer all at once, and dinner is ready in 30 minutes or less. Any air fryer brand like Cosori 5.8QT, Cuisinart Air Fryer Oven, Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Duo Crisp works here.

Choose the orange and red-skinned potatoes with bright orange flesh known as Garnet Sweet Potatoes. They are available most time of the year in American grocery stores. These are known as the “moist varieties” and tend to be sweeter, creamier, and less starchy great for roasting or baking.

- Sweet Potatoes - Choose orange and red-skinned potatoes that are firm without any soft spots. Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into ½-inch cubes for even and quick cooking. You may also keep the skin if you prefer. In some grocery stores in the US, sweet potatoes are incorrectly labeled as Yams, even though they are distinctly different vegetables.
- Extra-virgin olive oil – adds richness and is ideal for roasting to soften and brown. You may also use avocado or grapeseed oil.
- Spices – garlic powder, kosher salt, and pepper give this air fryer roasted sweet potatoes a nice twist, making them sweet and savory. You may also add some paprika.

How to Cut Sweet Potatoes for Roasting
Rinse and peel the skin of the sweet potato using a vegetable peeler. (If you are using organic, then you may leave the skin if you prefer, as it is perfectly edible.)
After peeling, cut off the ends of the sweet potato and then cut it into half using a sharp knife, as shown in the picture.
Then place one portion vertically on the cutting board and cut all the way through the sweet potato, ½ inch apart.
Then place each slice flat on the cutting board and make ½-inch cubes for even and quick cooking.
Transfer the sweet potatoes to a medium bowl. Add olive oil and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss them well, so they are all coated with the seasoning.
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Add the seasoned sweet potato cubes to the air fryer basket and spread them in a single layer (cook in batches if required).
Air fryer them at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes or until slightly brown and crisp. Shake the basket halfway through. Mine was cooked perfectly in 10 minutes.
Roasted Sweet Potatoes are ready. Remove to a serving plate, squeeze some lime juice, and serve it immediately with a tasty dipping sauce on the side.
How to Roast Sweet Potatoes in the Oven
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Transfer the diced sweet potatoes to a baking sheet. You can add oil and seasonings to the sheet tray itself.
Spread them evenly in a single layer and cook for about 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are browning around the edges (time may vary based on the size of your cubes). You may have to turn them once halfway through.
