This Garlic & Dill Yogurt Dip is high in protein, uses simple ingredients in the refrigerator and pantry, and takes just 5 minutes to make. You can call this yogurt garlic sauce, herbed greek yogurt dip, or lemon yogurt sauce.

You can use it as a dip, sauce, or dressing. Try this dip with some chips, french fries, or raw veggies for your next Superbowl party, and let me know what your guests think.

I also use it as a dressing on my favorite chickpea salad, and it's so delicious. Also, check out other healthy salad dressings like creamy avocado cilantro dressing and Thai peanut dressing.

This dip is low-carb and keto-friendly and great for weight watchers. If you are on a Keto or Low Carb Diet, Check out my Keto Indian Food Recipes Collection.

Ingredients for Greek Yogurt Dip Recipe

You will need only a few ingredients to make this yogurt dipping sauce recipe.

  • Greek yogurt – Using full-fat plain Greek yogurt to the dip makes it more rich and creamy. I don't recommend using low-fat or nonfat Greek yogurt as they are not as creamy and don't taste great. If you can't find Greek yogurt, you can make hung yogurt at home and use it instead.
  • Herbs - Fresh herbs are always the best for the dips. I have used freshly chopped dill and parsley in this recipe. If you can't find fresh dill, use dried dill (dill weed).
  • Garlic powder – added for flavoring. You can also add freshly minced garlic.
  • Onion powder – brings sweetness from the onion, so do not skip it.
  • Oil - Use extra virgin oil for the best flavor. You can also skip it if you want to make it oil-free.
  • Lime juice – Add fresh lime juice for tanginess and to bring extra flavor to the dip.
  • Salt – I used Himalayan pink salt.

Storage Suggestions

To Store. Store the leftover greek yogurt dip in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to three days.

To Freeze: I don't recommend freezing this dip.

Tips to Make the Best Greek Yogurt Dip

  • Use full-fat plain Greek yogurt to make the dip more rich, flavorful, and creamy. For a vegan variation, use plain coconut yogurt.
  • If your Greek yogurt is very thick, you can add a few teaspoons of water till you achieve desired consistency.

Variations

  • Fresh Herbs: Use a combination of fresh herbs like dill, chives, parsley, and cilantro to make the dip more flavorful.
  • Fresh Garlic: You can add fresh minced garlic instead of garlic powder.
  • Sour Cream: You can replace the full-fat Greek yogurt with sour cream if you prefer.
  • Sourness: You can substitute the lime juice with apple cider vinegar.
  • Spicy: If you want to add heat to this dip, add minced chili pepper or jalapeno.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between Greek yogurt and regular yogurt?

Greek yogurt is a yogurt that has been strained to remove its whey and other liquids. This results in a thicker, creamier consistency
than regular yogurt. Greek yogurt is higher in protein than regular yogurt.

Can you substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream?

Yes. Sour cream can be easily substituted with Full-fat Greek yogurt. Both greek yogurt and sour cream have sour, tart, and tangy taste and creamy texture.
