- Done in less than 15 minutes.
- Crispy, crunchy, and tastes the same as that of deep-fried fries.
- Healthy, and uses far less oil than regular fries.
Ingredients for Potato Fries
- Potatoes - Russet potatoes (Idaho potatoes) work best for the fries, but you can also use Yukon gold potatoes. I have peeled the skin in this recipe, but you can also keep the skin on.
- Extra-virgin olive oil - helps to crisp up the fries in the air fryer. You may also use avocado oil or any other oil with a higher smoke point.
- Spices - I have used garlic powder and salt for seasoning, you may use any of your favorite go-to spices.
How to Make French Fries in Air Fryer
Wash, peel, and cut the potatoes into ¼-inch thick fries. I have used russet potatoes here, the best variety for making french fries. You may also use a mandolin, which works best to cut evenly-sized fries.
In a large bowl, soak the fries in cold water and let them sit for about 10-15 minutes (remove excess starch in potatoes).
Drain the water well and dab the fries dry with a kitchen towel.
Put the fries in a bowl. Add olive oil and season with garlic powder, and salt. Toss them well, so they are all coated with the seasoning.
Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C). Add the seasoned fries to the air fryer basket and spread them in a single layer (cook in batches if required).
Air fryer them at 380°F (193°C) for 12-15 minutes or until crispy and golden. Toss the fries halfway through. If your fries are not crispy, air fry them slightly longer. Cook time will depend on the thickness of your fries.
Serve French Fries hot and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.
How to Make French Fries in the Oven
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the seasoned fries evenly in a single layer. Bake at 425˚F for 25-30 minutes, tossing occasionally or until crispy and golden.
