Mohabbat Ka Sharbat is a popular and refreshing summer drink recipe from Old Delhi made with a blend of whole milk, rooh afza (rose syrup), watermelon, and ice cubes.

Feeling drained this summer? Cool off and recharge with a refreshing glass of nimbu sharbat, sattu sharbat, and rooh afza sharbat! Today, I’m sharing another delightful summer cooler—Mohabbat Ka Sharbat. It is also known as Pyaar Mohabbat Mazza and Pyaar Ishq Mohabbat Sharbat.
Interested to know why this drink is called by these names? Nawab Qureshi, a native of Uttar Pradesh, relocated to Old Delhi, the nation's capital, ten years ago in order to make a living. He just began promoting this cold drink cooler during the summer. People all around Delhi or beyond fell in love with this drink.

What is Mohabbat Ka Sharbat?
"Mohabbat Ka Sharbat" translates to "Love Potion Drink" in English.
This refreshing beverage combines watermelon, milk, and Rooh Afza, topped with fragrant rose petals for a delightful presentation. The watermelon pairs perfectly with the rose-flavored milk, creating a lovely light pink hue. For an extra touch of flavor, you can add a pinch of cardamom powder to elevate the taste.
Ingredients
- Milk: Use whole milk to make a rich and creamy drink. You can also use low-fat milk. If you are a vegan, use plant-based milk like almond milk, cashew milk, soy milk, or coconut milk.
- Rose Syrup: I used the Hamdard Rooh Afza Sharbat Syrup brand. You can use any brand. It is easily available in Indian grocery stores and on Amazon.
- Sweetener: Use granulated or powdered sugar as a sweetener. You can replace sugar with honey or maple syrup. Rooh afza syrup already has sugar in it, so adjust the sugar accordingly or skip it.
- Watermelon: Chop the watermelon into small bite-sized cubes. Remove the seeds, if any.
How to Make Mohabbat Ka Sharbat
Chop the watermelon into small, bite-sized cubes to yield approximately 1 cup of diced watermelon.
In a large mixing bowl, add 2 cups of chilled milk, 4 tablespoons rooh afza syrup, and sugar (optional). Mix thoroughly using a spoon or whisker until well combined.
Add 1 cup of diced watermelon cubes, ice cubes, and mix well again.
Pour the sharbat into serving glasses. Serve chilled.

Mohabbat Ka Sharbat is best consumed fresh. However, leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1-2 days. Mix them well before serving.

- Sprinkle some cardamom powder on top to give the drink an aromatic and delicious flavor.
Variations
- Vegan: Substitute whole milk with plant-based milk like almond, cashew, or soy milk.
- Add Watermelon juice: You can also add 1 cup of watermelon juice (simply blend fresh watermelon chunks in a blender) along with chopped watermelon pieces to this drink.
- Rose petals: You can add fresh, edible rose petals to this sharbat.
- Sabja seeds: You can also add soaked sabja seeds to this drink for the added texture and their cooling properties.
