How to make Paneer Biryani Street Style

  • First, cook the basmati rice in Instant pot or stovetop pot and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add onion slices, cook until golden brown in colour, approximately takes 8-10 minutes.
  • Move the sauteed onions to one side, and then in the same pan, add oil, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, red chili powder and saute for 1 minute.
  • Then add green chilies, chopped mint, yogurt, coriander powder, biryani masala powder, and stir well for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Add fried paneer, squeeze lime juice, salt, and add cooked basmati rice, toss it.
  • Now pour saffron milk uniformly over the rice (soak a pinch of saffron stands in 2 tablespoons of warm milk)
  • Cover the lid and let it steam for 2 minutes, then switch off the flame.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves & serve hot paneer biryani with raita.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Street Style Paneer Biryani with Raita or any kurma on the side.

Notes:

  • I have shallow-fried the paneer before mixing it in the Biryani.
  • If you are vegan, substitute dairy yogurt with any plant-based yogurt.
  • You can also add some vegetables along with paneer.
