Refreshing and easy Pineapple Salsa recipe made with only a few ingredients like fresh pineapple, red onions, cilantro, tomatoes, jalapeño, and lime juice. Enjoy this sweet and spicy salsa with chips for your next BBQ party.

Pineapple salsa served in a bowl and scooping the salsa with chips

Ingredients

  • Fresh Pineapple: Fresh ripe pineapple works best for the salsa. I would not recommend using frozen or canned as they are very watery.
  • Red onion: these are perfect for salsa.  You can substitute it with yellow or white onion if needed.
  • Red bell pepper: Adds color and crunch. It's optional and I did not add it to this recipe.
  • Fresh Cilantro: Finely chopped
  • Jalapeño: Finely chopped with seeds and membrane. Use as per your spice level.
  • Lime Juice: Freshly squeezed lime juice is always better than bottled for the best flavor
  • Salt: for seasoning

How to Make Pineapple Salsa

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the pineapple, red onion, tomato, jalapeño, cilantro, juice of one lime, and salt to taste.

Serve with tortilla chips, burritos, quesadillas, or salads. For best flavor, let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

How to Serve Pineapple Salsa?

  • Serve with your favorite tortilla chips.
  • On tacos, burrito or rice bowl, salad or quesadillas.
  • This pineapple salsa recipe also makes a great side dish for a summer BBQ.

Variations & Tips

  • You can also add ½ cup of bell pepper to this salsa.
  • Pineapple salsa can be made ahead as it stays fresh for up to 3 days when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. I do not recommend freezing as it will lose its texture and be watery once defrosted.
