The healthy Thai Peanut sauce/dressing recipe is made with creamy peanut butter, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, lime juice, and it is easy to whip in under 10 minutes. It's perfect to put on salads, noodles, veggies, and more!
Today I am sharing one of my favorite and easy Asian-inspired sauce recipes, i.e., Thai Peanut Sauce. You can make it in under 10 minutes and store it for a week in the refrigerator. Use this homemade peanut sauce recipe as a peanut dipping sauce for raw veggies, spring rolls, lettuce wraps, dressing for salads, to make peanut noodles, or with fried tofu.
Ingredients
- Peanut Butter: creamy or crunchy
- Ginger and Garlic: Use freshly minced ginger and garlic. It gives nice favor don't skip it.
- Dark soy sauce: Try to use low-sodium soy sauce and if you are looking for gluten-free, use Tamari or also Coconut Aminos to replace the soy sauce.
- Rice Vinegar: Traditionally, rice vinegar is used for this sauce, if you don't have it, use white or apple cider vinegar.
- Toasted Sesame oil: Adding sesame oil gives an Asian flavor to the sauce and is healthy.
- Lime juice: I used the juice of one lime. Feel free to increase or decrease according to your preference.
- Sweetener: You can use either maple syrup, honey, or brown sugar, and it's optional.
- Hot sauce: use sriracha or red chili sauce. It's optional.
How to Make Thai Peanut Sauce
Add the smooth peanut butter, minced ginger, and garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sriracha, maple syrup, lime juice, sesame oil, and salt to a jar.
Stir well with a whisker until well blended, and keep aside. You may also use a blender or mini food processor to prepare the sauce. Add water as required until you get the desired consistency.
Refrigerate the sauce until you're ready to use, or use it right away as a dip with raw vegetables.
How to Serve Spicy Thai Peanut Sauce?
You can pair this dip with a variety of dippers.
- Cucumbers
- Celery
- Bell pepper – any color
- Broccoli
- Carrots
Also
- As a salad dressing, by thinning the dip with additional water.
- As a dip for spring rolls, lettuce wraps.
- Top it on fried tofu.
Tips & Variations
- You can make this sauce extra spicy by using more chili hot sauce or sriracha.
- Add water as required to thin the sauce and use it as a peanut sauce dressing for salad.

Thai Peanut Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
Measuring cup used 1 cup = 250 ml
- ¼ cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 teaspoon ginger grated
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (tamari for gluten-free)
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice from one lime
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey or agave)
- 1 teaspoon sriracha (or chili flakes)
- salt to taste
- water as needed
Instructions
- Add the smooth peanut butter, minced ginger, and garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sriracha, maple syrup, lime juice, sesame oil, and salt in a jar.
