Instant Pot Peas Pulao

Ingredients
  1. Measurements Used - 1 cup = 250 ml
  2. 1 medium sized onion, thinly sliced
  3. 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  4. 2-3 small green chili, slit lenthwise
  5. 3/4 cup green peas (fresh / frozen)
  6. 2 tablespoon,mint/pudina leaves
  7. 1 cup Basmati Rice
  8. 1.5 cups water
  9. 2 tablespoon oil or ghee/clarified butter
  10. Salt to taste
Whole Spices
  1. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds / jeera
  2. 2 Cardamom
  3. 1 Bay leaf
  4. 2-3 Cloves
  5. 1 inch long Cinnamon
  6. 1 Star Anise (optional)
INSTANT POT METHOD
  1. Press SAUTE mode on Instant Pot. Add oil or butter in to the POT.
  2. Once POT is hot add in the whole spices.Saute for 30 secs or till aromatic.
  3. Add in the chopped onions,green chillies,ginger-garlic paste and Saute until onions turn light brown.
  4. Now add in the mint,green peas,basmati rice,water,salt and mix well.
  5. Close the lid on the pot, and turn valve from VENTING to SEALING position.
  6. Press CANCEL button on Instant Pot.
  7. Set the pot to MANUAL/PRESSURE COOK (High Pressure) and set timer to 6 minutes
  8. Do a QUICK RELEASE(QR)(Wait until silver button on lid drops).BE CAREFUL OF THE HOT STEAM.
  9. Once the pressure has released, open the lid and gently fluff up the rice
  10. Peas pulao is ready, serve with yogurt,raita.
INDIAN PRESSURE COOKER METHOD
  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add in the whole spices. Saute for 30 secs or till aromatic.
  2. Add in the green chillies,ginger-garlic paste and saute for 30 secs until raw smell of the ginger garlic goes away.
  3. Add in the chopped onions. Saute until onions turn light brown.
  4. Now add in the mint,green peas,basmati rice,water,salt and mix well.
  5. Close the lid and put the whistle weight on. Cook for 2 whistles on medium flame and turn off the gas.
  6. Once the pressure has released, open the lid and gently fluff up the rice.
  7. Peas pulao is ready, serve with yogurt,raita.
