If you have a hard time getting your family to eat their veggies, well, steaming vegetable is one of the quickest and easiest ways to get vegetable side dishes onto your plate.
You can dump veggies into the Instant Pot without monitoring while the rest of the dinner is being prepared. Once done, toss them with butter and seasoning before serving.
I highly recommend using Steamer basket as it prevents the veggies from soaking up too much of the water from the pot, which results in overcooked and mushy vegetables.

- Cut your vegetables into equal sizes to ensure that the vegetables cook evenly. Also, only cut vegetables if necessary.
- Add the seasonings after you remove the steamed vegetables from the Instant Pot, to get the best flavor from the veggies.
- You must add water to the bottom of the pot, which is required to convert water into steam.
- When cooking in the instant pot, there is no need to prick the surface of starchy vegetables like sweet potatoes, potatoes, or beets with a fork.

Fresh veggies often taste the best, and the recipes I have shared above are using fresh vegetables. However, you can use frozen vegetables too, just follow the same instructions and season in the end. You do not have to thaw the veggies before adding them to the instant pot.
Yes! It depends on the vegetable. For delicate veggies like broccoli, green beans, or asparagus, you need to use "0 minutes" cooking time. Add a cup of water into the instant pot, place a steamer basket with vegetables, and cook them. Once they are steamed, add your favorite seasonings.
Vegetables that are delicate, like broccoli, peppers, and cauliflower, should be quick released. Starchy vegetables like potatoes, beets, and squash should be naturally released for about 5-10 minutes, which helps to finish cooking vegetables perfectly in the Instant Pot.
