Yogurt is well known for its cooling properties and health benefits. The curd (yogurt) is also rich in probiotics that helps to keep intestines healthy.
This cheese curd sandwich recipe can be prepared with any bread. I have used white sandwich bread. I have used whatever vegetables I had in my fridge. You may use vegetables of your choice.If you are making for kids check on spice level.
The important ingredient in this sandwich is curd. This curd/dahi sandwich recipe can turn soggy if you keep for long time. however, if you use hung curd / thick curd then it stays crisp.

WHAT IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOGURT AND CURD
Curd and yogurt are two very different things.Curd or Dahi is made by curdling the milk with edible acidic substance such as lemon juice or vinegar whereas Yogurt is made by fermenting milk using bacteria.
In India, curd is often used for yogurt and so if any Indian recipes says curd, you can use yogurt instead.
HOW TO MAKE HUNG CURD?
Hung curd is nothing but yogurt drained of all its water. It can be made very easily at home.
Hung the curd/yogurt in the muslin or cheese cloth for 3 to 4 hrs or till all the water drains out .After this time period, pressure is applied to the bundle to squeeze out all the water and the hung curd is ready.
Keep it in fridge to ensure that the curd does not turn sour.
HOW TO MAKE CURD SANDWICH
In a large mixing bowl take thick curd.Best if you use hung curd.
Add few finely chopped vegetables like carrot, cabbage, capsicum and sweet corn.
Next add Italian seasoning, chilli flakes ,salt and pepper powder, adjust spices accordingly.
Mix well and keep aside.Take bread slices and spread curd mixture generously on one slice of the bread.Cover and press with other bread slice over it.
Heat tawa or sandwich maker ,add butter.Now place the prepared sandwich and spread butter on top.
Grill or toast bread on both sides till golden brown and crisp.Cut the sandwiches into triangles.
Serve vegetable curd/Hung Curd sandwich recipe hot with tomato ketchup.
TIPS TO MAKE BEST HUNG CURD SANDWICH
- Always use the fresh curd, don’t use sour curd for this cheese curd sandwich.
- Grilling or toasting sandwich is optional, so to make cold curd sandwich ,follow the same steps and skip grill or toasting the sandwich.
- Toast the bread on tawa or use sandwich maker or grill to roast golden and crisp.
- You can also add some cheese to make it more rich and cheesy.
VARIATIONS TO MAKE YOGURT SANDWICH RECIPE
- Use brown or multigrain bread for healthier yogurt/dahi sandwich recipe.
- Use any vegetables of your choices.You can also add colored bell pepper, shredded cucumber ,shredded bottle-gourd ,mushrooms, spinach leaves.
- You can also add 2 tablespoon of mayonnaise to the curd mixture.
- You can use oil instead of butter if you are vegan.
- If you are a vegan, you can use cashew milk, coconut milk, peanut milk or soy milk for making the hung curd.

Curd Sandwich |Yogurt Sandwich|Dahi Sandwich
Ingredients
- Measuring cup used 1 cup = 250 ml
For Sandwich Spread:
- ½ cup thick curd/yogurt or hung curd
- ¼ cup shredded cabbage (pata gobhi)
- ¼ cup shredded carrots
- ¼ cup sweet corn (boiled) or frozen
- ¼ cup chopped capsicum/bell pepper
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning or mixed herbs
- ½ teaspoon red chilli flakes
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
- salt to taste

- 2 tablespoon butter
- 6 bread slices
