This easy Indian Cucumber Chutney Sandwich is a delicious tea-time or after-school snack made with buttered bread, green coriander mint chutney, cucumber slices, and spices—ready in just 10 minutes!

Growing up, some of the sandwich recipes my mom often made at home were mayonnaise sandwiches, potato sandwiches, cucumber chutney sandwiches, and masala bread toast.
Today, I'm sharing a delicious cucumber chutney sandwich recipe that can be made in just 10 minutes if you have green chutney in hand. They're incredibly easy to prepare and make a perfect tea-time snack or appetizer for a kids' party.
You can make these tea-time cucumber sandwiches with any bread. I used white sandwich bread. Sourdough bread works best for packing kids school lunch boxes. Also, check out my avocado chutney sandwich.
You can easily make green chutney at home and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze the chutney in an ice cube tray and thaw it as needed.
Green coriander chutney is a popular condiment in most Indian homes, It is usually served as a dip, spread, or spicy accompaniment for chaats like bhel puri chat, dahi papdi chaat, and aloo tikki chaat.
How to Make Cucumber Chutney Sandwich
- Take bread slices and trim off the brown edges.
- Apply butter on both slices of bread.
- Then spread green chutney on both slices of bread.
- Arrange cucumber slices on one of the bread slices. Sprinkle 1 pinch of chaat masala powder and cumin powder for added flavor.
- Place the other slice of bread on top, press gently, and cut into squares or triangles.
- Cucumber chutney sandwiches are ready.
Serving Suggestions
Pair this cucumber chutney sandwich with a cup of masala chai, ginger tea, or coffee for a perfect tea-time snack. You can also serve it with masala french fries or potato wedges.
You can also serve it with soup or salad to make a perfect meal.
Tips & Variations
- If the cucumbers are watery, place the slices on tissue paper or a paper towel for a few minutes to absorb excess moisture. This will help prevent the sandwiches from becoming soggy.
- Also, if you are packing sandwiches for the lunch box, apply more butter, preventing sandwiches from becoming soggy.
- If you don't have green chutney, just replace it with cream cheese, mayonnaise, or pesto.
- Use brown or multigrain bread for healthier choices.

Ingredients
- 2 slices bread
- 1 tablespoon butter room temperature
- 1-2 tablespoons green chutney
- ¼ teaspoon roasted jeera powder
- ¼ teaspoon chaat masala powder
- few cucumber slices
Instructions
- Take bread slices and cut the brown sides of the bread.
- Apply butter to both slices of bread.
- Then spread green chutney on both slices of bread.
- Layer cucumber slices on the bread. sprinkle chat masala powder and cumin powder.
- Place the other slice of the bread on top. Cut into squares or triangles.
- Cucumber Chutney Sandwiches are ready.
Notes
