Broccoli Raita is an easy and healthy Indian side dish recipe made with plain yogurt (curd), sautéed broccoli, and some spices. Can be served with Vegetable Pulao, Veg Biryani or eaten as it is. This Broccoli Yogurt dip is Low Carb and Kids friendly.

Normally, I use plain yogurt but if you like raitas to be a little thick and creamy, use plain Greek Yogurt. If you want it thinner, mix in a little cold water till you achieve the desired consistency.

We love Broccoli at home, I usually make Broccoli Spinach Soup, Broccoli Paneer Bhurji, or Broccoli Besan Stir Fry once a week. If you are looking for more such easy recipes do check Broccoli Recipes List from my blog.

How to Make Broccoli Raita

Firstly, heat ½ teaspoon of oil in a Kadai. Add cumin (jeera) seeds. Let them splutter. Then add green chilies and ginger and saute for a few seconds.

Add chopped broccoli, salt, and saute for 2-3 minutes till the broccoli is cooked well. Cool the mixture before mixing it with the yogurt.

Then whisk the yogurt or curd in a large mixing bowl.

Add sautéed broccoli mixture and salt. Taste at this stage to make sure the amount of salt and spices is enough.

Broccoli Raita/Broccoli Yogurt dip is ready, Serve chilled.

Serving suggestions

You can serve Broccoli Raita with Indian dishes like Indian flatbreads or parathas, curries, or lentils. This yogurt based side dish also goes well with Biryanis and Pulao.

Tips & Variations

  • Adding milk to the yogurt helps it from turning sour. If you are using fresh yogurt then skip it.
  • You have to saute or steam broccoli because raw broccoli doesn't taste great with this raita. Grated cucumber or carrots can also be added to this recipe.
  • You can also add finely chopped mint (pudina) or coriander leaves.
  • To Make it Keto friendly use Greek Yogurt.
